At the annual meeting of the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA), Medweb will highlight the new Browser neutral viewer for enterprise applications. The Medweb insta-viewer provides distributed access to all DICOM imaging with 2D and 3D interactive capabilities, while working on all major browsers. The viewer supports, ECG, and general telemedicine devices for data capture and upload, as well as display in addition to conventional radiology devices.

Bogota, Colombia - Medweb partnered with HP Latin America in Bogota, Colombia, last week where we hosted the Directors of Colombia’s major private and public hospitals and health institutions at a daylong informational seminar on various cutting-edge technology trends and solutions impacting the country’s health sector. Medweb has been selected as a double-entry finalist in the 2012 Grand Challenges for Development - Saving Lives at Birth competition!

Saving Lives at Birth is a global call for transformative innovations to improve maternal and infant health outcomes in low-income countries. Medweb's proposals to pilot two complementary mobile (m)-Health systems - Midwives Connect and IVR4BABY - in rural areas of eastern Afghanistan have been reviewed and selected as finalists by panelists from a consortium that includes the US Agency for International Development (USAID), the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the UK Department for International Development (DfID), and Grand Challenges Canada. We will be attending the Development Exchange conference in Seattle from July 12-14th along with other finalists for the final round of the competition.

Clinicians treating the citizens of Concepcion, Honduras and surrounding rural area will now have access to specialists in the United States, thanks to Medweb’s recent PACS donation to Shoulder to Shoulder, Inc., a non-profit organization dedicated to creating an integrated healthcare system in Honduras. The virtualPACS software-only DICOM gateway is downloaded via a Web browser, auto configured to any Windows-based PC, and does not require involvement of an IT specialist, making it the ideal teleradiology solution for Shoulder to Shoulder’s new Honduran clinic opening February 20.

Medweb has donated two PACS servers to the University of Miami/Project Medishare 240-bed hospital on the tarmac at Port-au-Prince airport. The equipment will enable clinicians in Haiti to transmit a patient’s radiological images to the University of Miami Hospital for remote reading and expert consultation.
